The penalties for a second or third or more DUI/DWI are as follows:

Jail: 48 hours,up to 90 days
License Suspension: 2 years
Community Service 30 days
I.D.R.C.: 48 hours
Surcharge: $1,000.00 for three years
Ignition Interlock
3rd or more Conviction*
Fine: $1,000.00
Jail: 180 days mandatory
License Suspension: 10 years
I.D.R.C.: 48 hours
Surcharge: $1,500.00 for three years
Ignition Interlock
*These are the range of penalties; however, some of the penalties can double if you are convicted of DUI/DWI in a school zone. If you're involved in an accident that causes injury or death to another person, other criminal charges will be filed.
**In many circumstances, convictions for DUI/DWI in other States can count as a previous conviction in New Jersey.
However, there may be ways for an experienced attorney to fight to have any previous convictions, whether in New Jersey or elsewhere, from being considered as a prior DUI/DWI, thereby saving you from jail or an extended period of license suspension.
As you can see the consequences for a second or more DUI/DWI conviction are severe. So its important that you retain an attorney who knows how to handle these types of cases.
I've been successfully handling DUI/DWI cases for over 25 years. If you've been charged with a DUI/DWI, call me for a free consultation. I'll explain the charges and how I can help you.
All the Best!
